Fishy vaginal odor is something which can be a source of embarrassment for women who suffer from this problem.

However, in order to resolve the issue it’s important to confront the problem and try to learn what the underlying cause of feminine odor may be so that treatment can begin.

In my article Uncovering The Cause Of Feminine Odor In Women, I go into more detail about why women experience feminine odor, however, one of the main reasons some experience a fishy vaginal odor is due to Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) which is the most common cause of vaginal infection in women.

A healthy vagina normally contains many microorganisms, one of the common ones being Lactobacillus acidophilus. Lactobacillus help prevent other vaginal microorganisms from increasing to a level where they cause a woman to experience symptoms. Thus, BV is often described as a disorder of the balance of the normal vaginal flora.

For reasons science does not yet understand, when the numbers of certain microorganisms increase and lactobacillus organisms decreases BV often occurs. Moreover, most cases of Bacterial Vaginosis occur in women who are sexually between the ages of 15 and 44 - especially after contact with a new partner. Often, women with BV experience what they describe as a fishy vaginal odor that increases after intercourse.

Usually, when a woman has BV her doctor will prescribe antibiotics for the condition, however, in my opinion, most people consume too many antibiotics and there are many studies now that indicate that this is causing us much more harm than good. A much better solution is to supplement the diet with a Lactobacillus Acidophillus and take an all natural herbal treatment that is effective and has no side effects. For an all natural solution to this problem you may want to investigate the links above for an herbal product that is getting a lot of attention.
