Some chemicals may affect breast cancer risk because they may act like the hormone estrogen in the body. Lifetime exposure to reproductive hormones like estrogen and progesterone has been linked to breast cancer.

Scientists are studying whether exposure to some chemicals might be linked to breast cancer and other health problems. It’s wise to limit your exposure to chemicals whenever possible. Children’s bodies may be more easily harmed by exposure to chemicals. Practice healthy habits and avoid unnecessary exposures. If you are pregnant, avoid using home and garden chemicals as much as you can.
